Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS) aims to contribute to peaceful coexistence in global society. It does this through education and research on the world's languages and cultures, including Japan. It is the only national foreign studies university in Japan. Our mission is to cultivate human beings who will be responsible for the future of Japan and a world where multilingual society and multiculturalization are advancing. In particular, the subjects of TUFS education and research are the world's languages and cultures, politics and society, international relations, Japanese society, and Japanese culture. All of these are important to the future of Japan. Education and research at TUFS also takes advantage of a network of other universities around the world.
