Cyber-Defence Fellowship Talent Programs Open for Japanese Applications – Deadline 15 February 2021

The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) and the Swiss Cyber-Defence (CYD) Campus launched the third call for proposals for “CYD Fellowships – A Talent Program for Cyber-Defence Research”

Citizens of any nationality who are willing to engage with cross-cutting issues in cyber-defence under the supervision of a professor at a Swiss higher education institution and a CYD Campus researcher are invited to submit applications for the Master Thesis Fellowship (rolling call), and for the Doctoral and Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship with a deadline of 15 February 2021 (17:00 CET).

CYD Master Thesis Fellowships
Allowance: living allowance and research funds for 6 months
Deadline: rolling open call
Eligibility: to be enrolled in a Master program at a Swiss higher education institution and receive the endorsement of a professor willing to supervise you

CYD Doctoral Fellowships
Allowance: salary, research and conference funds for 4 years (with a possible one-year extension)
Deadline: 15 February 2021 (17:00 CET)
Eligibility: to be accepted into a doctoral program at a Swiss higher education institution and receive the endorsement of a professor willing to supervise you

CYD Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowships
Allowance: salary, research and conference funds for up to 2 years
Deadline: 15 February 2021 (17:00 CET)
Eligibility: to receive the endorsement of a professor at a Swiss higher education institution willing to supervise you, and to plan to conduct your postdoctoral research funded by a Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship in a different laboratory from the one of your doctoral and (if applicable) of your current postdoctoral research

The program places particular emphasis on:

  • novel technologies for protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of cyber and cyber-physical systems
  • privacy-enhancing technologies
  • data science and artificial intelligence methods for analysing cyber- and technology-relevant data
  • research on vulnerabilities and backdoors in digital systems.

CYD fellows are hosted by a higher education institution in Switzerland and conduct their research at the CYD Campus – a cyber-competence center acting as an anticipation platform. The CYD Fellowships are supported by armasuisse Science and Technology.
