The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) is participating in the 8th European Interest Group (EIG) CONCERT-Japan call on Sustainable Hydrogen Technology as Affordable and Clean Energy. A total of six multilateral collaboration projects consisting of at least one Japanese and two eligible European countries will be selected to receive funding for a period of three years.
Each project’s participating research teams must comply with their national rules and regulations, and submit an individual application to their respective national funding agency in addition to a jointly drafted Consortium Proposal submitted on PT-Outline.

Call theme: Sustainable Hydrogen Technology as Affordable and Clean Energy
Research scope: This call for proposals invites Japan and Europe-based researchers to develop more efficient, reliable, flexible and clean hydrogen-based technologies. The hydrogen technologies that are fueled by clean and affordable energy can contribute to building a better society, and help mitigate climate change and other environment impacts caused by ever-growing human reliance on energy. This includes tackling research challenges related to hydrogen production, usage and storage. A close consideration will be given to proposals that promote energy security and environmental quality. The collaborative activities in this call will fall in line with efforts towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
For Switzerland-based researchers
Eligibility: All Swiss applicants must meet the eligibility requirements of the SNSF. The SNSF Funding Regulations, the General implementation regulations and the Regulations on Project Funding are applicable or applicable mutatis mutandis. Private companies are not eligible for funding.
Funding: Max. CHF 250,000 per project

Eligibility: Any independent researcher currently affiliated with and actively conducting research at a domestic Japanese research institution, or who will fulfil this requirement by the commencement of the research project if not currently affiliated with a research institution in Japan), regardless of nationality, is eligible to apply.
Funding: Max. 18,000,000 JPY per project
