Nintendo to launch smartphone-size Switch Lite for $200

OSAKA -- Nintendo will release a cheaper handheld-only version of its best-selling video game device in more than a decade, in an effort to win over fans looking for a lower-cost option.

The Switch Lite, unveiled Wednesday, will hit the 80 markets where the original Switch is now sold on Sept. 20.

The new smartphone-size model has a suggested retail price of $199.99 in the U.S., a third less than the $299.99 price tag of the original Switch, which works as both a home system and a portable machine.
