The Technology Workshop – Towards the CYBATHLON Wheelchair Series Japan 2019 – was a great success, attended by more than 60 guests from academia, industry and government. The teams who will participate in the CYBATHLON Wheelchair Series Japan 2019 presented their research as well as the different wheelchair prototypes being currently developed for the 2019 event as well as the 2020 CYBATHLON.
Prof. Dr. Christian Bermes, HSR Enhanced Team Leader (Winner of CYBATHLON 2016 in the Powered Wheelchair Race) left a deep impression on the audience and on CYBATHLON future Powered Wheelchair Teams, by stating that “participating in the CYBATHLON will probably be one of the most rewarding experiences in your life”.
Prof. Dr. Bermes also mentioned that taking part in the CYBATHLON was one of the greatest opportunity to establish many connections in the scientific community.
The Technology Workshop was followed by a visit of the Keio University Manufacturing Center, where Keio University team, Keio Fortississimo, is currently developing its powered wheelchair prototype. The researchers could exchange ideas and opinions on their different technology devices.
We are looking forward to seeing the final Powered Wheelchairs on the occasion of the CYBATHLON Wheelchair Series Japan 2019 which will take place in May 2019 in Kawasaki, Japan.
