Electrical machinery companies are seeking to increase sales of light-emitting diode (LED) lights distinguished by their health effects and comfort for users.While LED lights have become popular, the market for such devices is expected to peak in 2020. Manufacturers are thus aiming to revitalize the market by improving the quality of light.
Ministry to test dementia prevention goods, services
The economy ministry has decided to test the efficacy of products and services that claim to prevent dementia, ministry officials said. There are many such offerings, including drills that let users solve calculation problems on a touchscreen, but the actual effects of such products and services are not clear. The Economy, Trade and Industry Ministry intends to launch a verification project to investigate how much benefit they provide, the officials said.
Honjo awarded Nobel for medicine
American James Allison and Japanese Tasuku Honjo won the 2018 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine for discoveries leading to new approaches in harnessing the immune system to fight cancer, the award-giving body said on Monday.
